Students from all levels ran a 2.8km route from the start point outside Kallang Wave Mall to Tanjong Rhu Promenade and back. Our Parent Support Group and alumni were also invited for the event. Besides running, students also tried to complete a Zhenghua Secondary School’s theme puzzle as part of class bonding.
During the road race, I felt a strong sense of school spirit. Everyone was working hard and encouraging one another. During the race, everyone was pushing themselves and doing their very best, which made me proud to be a Zhenghua student. This road race taught me resilience, and my schoolmates really encouraged me during the race. I feel proud of both my schoolmates and myself. Even though some people did not get a medal, they should be proud of finishing the race!— Chan Kaiwen (3B)
Attending this road race helped me realise that these end-of-term activities are not just for fun, but are also a test. This road race tested my endurance and resilience. During the race, I felt like stopping because I was tired. However, I also wanted to finish in the top 20, so I persevered throughout the race. Even though I did not come in the top 20, this experience taught me not to give up.— Tan Wei You, Leeroy (2F)
Running in the road race helped me realise the true meaning of perseverance and determination. The road race really tested me in these two aspects. During the race, I felt like I was not going to finish, and my whole body was in pain. However, I was determined and persevered throughout the race without stopping. Although my timing was not great, I was proud that I finished.— Wee Jun Zhe (2F)
I did not expect to emerge in first place in the school's road race, as many of the other runners looked far more confident and experienced than I was. However, I reminded myself to stay calm and pace myself carefully throughout the race. As I approached the final stretch, exhaustion started to take over and every step felt heavier. For a moment, I felt like giving up, but I pushed those thoughts aside and encouraged myself to keep moving forward. With determination and perseverance, I sprinted towards the finish line with all the energy I had left. Crossing the finish line and realising I was the fastest runner among the Secondary 1 boys filled me with shock and joy.— Mohammad Alyan Nabil Bin Mohammad Endy (1D)
