Having visited Rongcheng the previous year, our Secondary 3 students were especially glad to welcome their friends back on home ground. Highlights of the visit included joint performances, discussions on Racial Harmony, and local exploration, forging lasting friendships through shared lessons and immersive cultural experiences.

My Rongcheng buddy translated the guide’s explanation of Peranakan culture as we explored Joo Chiat. Despite the language barrier, we had a great time discussing our schools. While I wish I had communicated better and shared more about Singapore’s culture, I’m glad we connected through photos and shared memories.— Alejandro Gwen Corpuz (3A)
I was surprised by how naturally the Rongcheng students and I conversed despite the language barrier and having never met before. They were incredibly easygoing and eager to learn about Singapore. I also really enjoyed taking photos with them.— Mildred Eve Lim Han (3C)
I'll fondly remember our attempts to speak each other's languages, taking photos in ethnic costumes, and our funny moments together. I found explaining complex cultural topics in Chinese challenging, but I've learned I should be less hesitant to strike up conversations in the future.— Shervelle Tan Qian Ning (3G)
