Mother Tongue Languages
Discover how the Mother Tongue Languages Department brings Chinese and Malay to life through cultural activities, projects, and real-world experiences that deepen students' love for language and heritage.
Programmes Highlights and Enrichment Activities
The Mother Tongue Languages Department supports meaningful and engaging mother tongue learning for our students. Through carefully designed experiences, students come to see their mother tongue as a living language that grows with them—deeply connected to their roots and authentic contexts, and used confidently in daily life. Engaging project work, meaningful learning journeys, and vibrant cultural festivities extend learning beyond the classroom. From celebrating Chinese New Year and Hari Raya to exploring traditional arts and stories, each activity deepens students’ appreciation of their heritage.
Students share that these experiences help them “learn well while having fun” and see the beauty of their mother tongue in action. In doing so, the department nurtures a love for both the Malay and Chinese languages, building strong and lasting connections to language, culture, and identity.
