Principal's Message

At Zhenghua Secondary, we are set on developing every student as a Dynamic Learner, an Exemplary Leader and a Thoughtful Contributor. With over a thousand students in the school, each starting from a different place and learning at a different pace, we do not believe in one single development path for all.

It rests on our focus on teaching and learning where learning is rigorous, purposeful and empowering. Much like teaching a child to ride a bicycle, our teachers guide students closely at first, then step back so that students own their learning, monitor their progress and persevere through challenge. Our teachers are experienced, committed professionals, some with more than two decades of experience to the school. They continually sharpen their craft, and many have been recognised at the national level through awards and appointments as Lead Teachers. We expect our students and staff alike to set high expectations of themselves, and we back those expectations with strong support. As we often tell our students, "Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you will land among the stars."

Our Applied Learning Programme in the Future of Transportation, Learning for Life Programme on Outdoor Education For Character and Leadership Development, alongside our other signature Zhenghua experiences such as Ziesta Programme, connect what is taught in class to real problems. Our students also take part in the design of school life. Through Architect of Zhenghua initiative, our students have proposed ideas and took ownership in turning them into reality, building their confidence in leading others well in the process.

Our students' achievements, in academics, sports, the arts and uniformed groups, are testament to their growth during their time in Zhenghua Secondary. Our students leave us with good results, and more importantly with the resilience and self-belief to keep learning long after they graduate.

We know that a school does best when it is not alone. Our parents, alumni, School Advisory Committee are our partners, and they further value-add to the school experiences of our students. Our students also learn beyond Singapore, through exchanges and three overseas trips per year. As the saying goes ‘The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows’, we want our students to step out of familiar surroundings, understand how others live and learn, and return with a wider view of the world and their place in it. All of this takes place in a caring, supportive environment in Zhenghua Secondary where every student is valued.

Whatever their starting point, we believe every Zhenghua student can steer their own journey well, and we are committed to helping them do so.
